Single-shot distillation is a method in which the entire spirit is produced in a single distillation run, with all botanicals at their final ratio in the still. The output is then bottled at strength without further dilution to extend volume. The method is sometimes called 'one-shot' or 'one-cut' distillation.
The inverse is 'multi-shot' distillation, in which a heavily concentrated single distillate is later diluted with neutral grain alcohol to extend production volume. Multi-shot is more efficient and is used by most large-scale gin producers; single-shot is preferred by small-batch and craft producers who consider it more honest, even though it produces less per run.
The Tannenblut Bereshit Series is produced as a single-shot distillation. The entire 3,000-bottle edition originates from one continuous run.
